Online Training Course on Weather Modificationis sponsored by China Meteorological Administration (CMA), and locally organized by WMO Regional Training Centre (RTC)Nanjingwith Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST).
Course Description
The course will cover academic and operational topics on the basic principles of weather modification, including physic process, observation and operations. It will also involves introductions to knowledge and experiences in the design, implementation, and impact assessment of weather modification schemes.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Participants are expected to gain knowledge and insights on 1) basics of weather modification and its physic process; 2) principles and technologies of warm and cold cloud seeding; 3) designing weather modification trials; 4) technologies and skills in observing and practicing weather modification; 5) numerical modeling technologies in weather modification; 6) assessment of weather modification outcomes.
Course Format
The online course will be delivered via real time video-conferences and discussions.
Target Audience
Officials, specialists and experts working in relevant fields at National Hydrological and Meteorological Services (NMHSs) or equivalent institutions.
Instructors
Professors from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) and senior experts from China Meteorological Administration and its local meteorological services.
Working language
The course will beconducted remotelyin English via a video conference system.

4)We provide electronic Certificates of Achievement to participants who meet either of the following two criteria:
a)attend at least 60% of all course lectures/activities and submit a technical report on one or more topics covered in the course (template to be provided).
b)hold a letter of nomination bearing the signature of the Permanent Representative of his/her country or region with WMO for the training course and submit a technical report on one or more topics covered in the course (template to be provided).
5)The distance training course is free of charge.
