Seminar on the Capacity Building of Urban Search and Rescue Teams from Countries along the Belt and Road Was Held in NUIST

 On the morning of September 11, the opening ceremony of The 2017 Training Course on Agro-meteorology for Developing Countries has been successfully held in Nanjing University of Information Science Technology. The Seminar was organized by the Ministry of Commerce and hosted by WMO RTC Nanjing. The ceremony was presided over by Mr.Zhu Jinjun, Deputy Director of the WMO RTC Nanjing. Professor Wang Suchun, Executive Deputy Director of the WMO RTC Nanjing, attended the ceremony and delivered speech.

Firstly, Executive Deputy Director Wang Suchun expressed warm welcome to the participants and gave a brief introduction to NUIST and WMO Regional Training Center. She said that chairman Xi put forward a great proposal for Belt and Road, which aims at turning Belt and Road into a road of Peace, prosperity, openness and innovation and promoting the communication between different countries. Countries along the Belt and Road are in the area that natural disasters occurs frequently. so urban search and rescue team as a local and national disaster emergency resource is indispensable, and construction of team depends on the technical and professional training. The seminar aims to improve the ability to search and rescue. When the disaster comes, losses of life, property and economic can be reduced.

On behalf of participants, Mr. JABER·RAE from Palestine delivered a speech. He said that the “Belt and Road” proposal put forward by chairman xi benefits many countries, and the seminar on the Capacity Building of Urban Search and Rescue Teams provide them with an opportunity to receive professional training. At last on behalf of all participants, she sincerely appreciated Chinese government and WMO RTC and NUIST.
